Okay. Here’s the thing. For 1976 it was either this ELO classic or Dancing Queen (yes, ABBA). Now, as big as ABBA was, and as long as they’ve lasted, I couldn’t, in all good conscience, choose an ABBA song on my soundtrack. It’s just not something any self-respecting bloke would do. And I can’t bring myself to do it.
So ELO makes the list. And, if I’m honest, I’m not too disappointed about that. While, for me, there wasn’t too much to choose from in ’76, this is a decent track and is something I actually remember listening to on the radio at about the time is came out (not years later on one of those classic hits stations). So, while not having too much meaning for me, it’ll do for my soundtrack.
