For a while The Cars were about the only group I listened to. They were big back in the mid-1980s and really popular, without appearing too mainstream. That suited me fine. You Might Think is a nice positive, uplifting song that screams ’80s and it had a cool little music video to go with it (cutting edge for the times, believe it or not).
Heartbeat City, the album this came from, contains several other great tracks. Drive was big all around the world, Magic is still memorable and the title track is right up there with You Might Think.
Yeah, I like The Cars. I still think they’re one of the best bands from the ’80s. They kind of embody that, er, interesting decade for me.
Before we get the the music video I should also mention this. In 1984 I thought it rocked.
